About TOBRUK HOUSE, Albert Park, Melbourne
Photo of the Original Tobruk House, Albert Park, prior to purchase by ROTA Melbourne, in 1956.
It is understood that ROTA Melbourne was the only ROTA Branch in Australia to have owned their own Hall outright.
In 1924 it was originally a Dance Studio and later became a Billiards Saloon, prior to being purchased by ROTA Melbourne, in 1956.
The Main Entry Doorway was moved to where the RH large window is seen in this photo.
The interior was modified to include a Kitchen and Servery.
In 2008 it was auctioned and is now owned by Mr Bill Gibbins who has stated that it will be the Home of the Rats, while ever there is a Military presence in the Hall.
